Unusual name, is it a joke or a cock-up or has the whole thing gone straight over my head, anyway - not bad but just your average rock track.
Darius - Live Twice
Good old Darius, still singing chirpily about love and appearing in his video's with his guitar, a beautiful lady and on a beach, a nice song this, and will chart high, but mate, choose a diferent vid next time!
Great summery pop, shame it's nearly winter. The video is clever and engaging
Guitar, drums, bass, punk direction. WOuld have been pretty good in the late 70's - this is fairly average.
Chuggs along nicely this one. I'm sure I can hear a diggerydoo in there somewhere, or it could be a bass guitar an octave lower than normal. Mellow and trance like. It also sounds a little bit like moodier stuff from Blur.

A lively cover of this disco tune. Although her voice is good, I think she's clutching at straws here and will be using her video and backing babes to hype up the sales of this one.
The Corrs - Angel
This is a little more contemporary from the Corrs, but it's still got the give a way celtic feel. Not bad but, it could be one of any number of artists all knocking out similar material. The traditional Irish bridge section is the only thing that helps distinguish the song.

This could be an internet geeks song, and probably is, this is another superb dance track from Norman. can't wait for the album
Razorlight - Vice
detailed and layered, builds up nicely. The overall sound demands attention and stinks of quality. Razorlight are brimming with their own self confidence and this single will do a lot to back it up.
McFly - That Girl
Very catchy, will now doubt appeal to eight year olds everywhere. Certainly giving Busted a run for their money. Sure hit

This is brilliant, it's geting lots of airplay already, and so it should, cant wait for the album.

Yeah this is more like it, good solid modern rock song, whether it will be a hit, i don't know but it's far better than the last two. NOt bad lyrics either.

Well whatever it is it's not this song, complete rubbish this track, it mumbloes it's way through 2mins 48 seconds, and for me thats 2 mins 47 seconds too long

a nice tune and a nice sound but a bit flat at times, it just sounds the same all the way through.

Always a class track, whatever they put out, these lot put the rest to shame, and this song is no execption

This is a cover of the depeche mode track and although it's good, so too was the original, so it's hard to really make a judgement about the band from this track. It's good but wouldn't it be better to showcase their own material.

This is a bit of a punk throwback song, the lyrics are reminisant of kids mursery rhymes. It's not bad but then again not the best thing i've heard.

This has a good intro, and Iain's voice sounds good, but after the intro the song doesn't particularly go anywhere, and you end up not taking in the lyrics, evcen though it's a bout a boy with his cardigan inside out - I think!

This song has a badly drawn bouy feel to it, and this makes it not very exciting to listen too. Sorry guys.

Fist impressions are they sound a little like Queen crossed with Electric 6. This is a rocking tune with full-on melody and in general there's not much wrong with it. It's a little on the tongue in cheek side of things, but that hasn't done the Darkness any harm has it.

These sexy, brassy young ladies have hit the nail on the head with this single and album. excelent funky offering - worth buying.

The kitten's singles are coming fast and furious. This one's a cover of the Kool and the Gang classic Ladies Night. It's a good uptempo version, very poppy but it's not going to be top of the charts this Christmas!

This features a Pet Shop Boys sample which at first leads you to believe it's a cover, but it's not this is yet another quality Mis-teeq track, slightly softer but still as funky.
I can't decide if this is catchy or irritating, all I know is that the chorus embeds itself into your mind for about 3 hours each time you hear the track. Light rapping, funky beats fun chorus, sure hit
This band have got something about them. The single is fairly mellow, catchy, thoughtful, well delivered and a bit of a grower. Musically it's accomplished and it's an allround fine tune. If you like Travis then this single would appeal to you although they've got a slightly more 60's feel.

Funky light intro, which turns into a bit of a mosh pit rant and then back again.There obviously musically talented, but it's wasted on this track. Eradicate the vocalist would be a better option.

Superb single from one of Irelands best rock bands. Excellent vocals that will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.. Aslan should have been huge - they are in Ireland - and hopefully the re-relase of earlier material may get them some well deserved wider coverage. See them live if you can.

With so many good singles around at the moment I was starting to worry that this page was looking a bit creepy, so thankfully, the Melanie C single came a long to re-address the balance. Sorry Mel, on another day you may have got the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately this is the most un-original song that I've heard all year. Frankly it's far worse than anything the cheeky girls have done and and it's a damm cheek expecting anything other than compilation filler for this effort..
Darlings of the Scottish music scene, Snow Patrol, are hoping for some wider attention with this poppy track. Nice melodies and a strong chorus - they could be on to a winner with this one
Best chorus I've heard for a while and the verses aren't too bad either. What can I say, If you're going to have hip-hop and r & b in the same track then this is how to do it. The softer meoldies gives their style of hip hop a new angle and and just what it need. Compare this with the tired, dull and boring track 2 "Sumthing for that Ass" - I know which I prefer.

New band from Scotland, Speedway offer more than a retro Pretenders sound, with their debut double A side. Save yourself is a catchy summery track whilst the cover of Genie in a bottle is stomping
The best part of this track is that it's got a Ska feel in places, especially the intro which could be the Specials..remeber them.

A cross between the ELO and the Thrills with some obvious Beatles influences. With this combination you're halfway to a decent sound and indeed that's what they've got. Whether it's got enough edge or originality to stand out from the crowd is another matter.
Call me ignorant, but I've no idea what this is all about, however, that doesn't mean it's no go good. It's got heavy electronic stmoping beats, growling resonant vocals with more than likely goth appeal. Nice atmospheric vampirish backing vocals, along with classical elements make this all a bit dramatic.
Totally dated angst ridden beastie boy type rap, full of pretentious lyrics.

Not heard much from these guys recently and this is certainly not like famous earlier singles such as 'model', but it's well put together and creative. If dance music is dying a death at the moment with too mny euphoric anthems, then this is the sort of rich deep electronic beats that will still give it some credibility.
Prelude to their forthcoming album, this single is classy rock with more than enough hooks to appeal to a wide audience.
Thankfully these lot aren't an accident waiting to happen as this is a good song with a band that has a good distinctive sound. Would like to hear the album

It's a good song which will get a lot of air play but it's not different enough to stand out

Brilliant. Pure energy captured and delivered with passion. Uptempo track with hints of the 90's and REM, but even so, still great.
Reggae \ hip- hop \ rap, but with a delicate and smooth flavour. Lots of melody and great vocals, this accessible and probablywithin most people's comfort zone.
Hip hop of the most average kind. Boring, repetitive and immature.

Shed Seven are back with the release of their new single on 12th May. It's funkier than the old stuff but still has that 90's inide feel. I hope it's a bit of a grower because on first play it's not particularly strong.
This is a bit of a catchy novelty track that runs the risk of sounding a bit corny, however, the other tracks on the single demonstrate that the Androids are not just one hit wonders and actually have an original and distinct sound. Already getting airplay...should be a hit!
This is the second track to be taken from 'Enemy of the Enemy' album that was released in February 2003 and features guest vocals by Sinead O'Connor. The song is about one of the last great taboos, domestic violence, especially in the Asian community. Despite a thorny issue, it's quite an comfortable poppy track with 80's familiarity, yet still feeling quite contemporary.
24 year old Brixton born Daniel Fahey aka Fallacy is one of the most distinctive voices to have come from the UK urban scene, blending street-level slang and his impassioned vocals with an assertive, no-nonsense attitude. Fairly standard hip / hop / rap, but with a distinctive ancatchy chorus
Short Break Operator aka Frail Kid aka James Chapman, a one-piece outfit hailing from a Northern Shire in middle England. Experimental, delicate and hypnotic.

This is a very smooth track from the Vines, Should get the airplay and should get a top 10 chart placing. The band seem to be going from strength to strength.
This is probably the best song on his recent album and should do better than the previous two releases. Sting's vocals add real quality to this track, but I'm not sure whose career is likely to benefit most from this duet.

An unusual offering from these pair, the song as a latin american/salsa feel but is rather catchy
This is a bit more guitar driven than previous stuff , but still reminds me of Jason Donovan. It's a great, catchy summer pop song, but lacks any real depth, originality or staying power.

Sneddon - Don't Let Go
This song doesn't come close to his 1st number 1 hit. Don't Let Go is
repetitive, flat and uninspiring. David should be able to write better
songs than this with all the help he had in the Fame Academy.
