New release

Home Video - Citizen EP

Although well produced this electronic blip EP, just doesn't cut it, it's repetative, whiney and a bit boring to be honest. If your into this sort of stuff then it will be fine for you, otherwise give it a miss.

Four Stars

KT Tunstall - False Alarm

What a great voice, the lead track "False Alarm" from the EP is superb, KT has both the voice and the songs on the EP, stunning!!

4 star
New release

Elivss - Not Enough

Unusual name, is it a joke or a cock-up or has the whole thing gone straight over my head, anyway - not bad but just your average rock track.

3 star

Darius - Live Twice

Good old Darius, still singing chirpily about love and appearing in his video's with his guitar, a beautiful lady and on a beach, a nice song this, and will chart high, but mate, choose a diferent vid next time!

4 star
New release Iain Archer - Summer Jets
Great summery pop, shame it's nearly winter. The video is clever and engaging
4 star
New release Others - Stan Bowles
Guitar, drums, bass, punk direction. WOuld have been pretty good in the late 70's - this is fairly average.
3 star
New release Earlies - Morning Wonder
Chuggs along nicely this one. I'm sure I can hear a diggerydoo in there somewhere, or it could be a bass guitar an octave lower than normal. Mellow and trance like. It also sounds a little bit like moodier stuff from Blur.
4 star
New release

Rachel Stevens- More, More, More

A lively cover of this disco tune. Although her voice is good, I think she's clutching at straws here and will be using her video and backing babes to hype up the sales of this one.

3 star

The Corrs - Angel

This is a little more contemporary from the Corrs, but it's still got the give a way celtic feel. Not bad but, it could be one of any number of artists all knocking out similar material. The traditional Irish bridge section is the only thing that helps distinguish the song.

3 star
New release

FatBoySLim - Slash Dot Dah

This could be an internet geeks song, and probably is, this is another superb dance track from Norman. can't wait for the album

5 star

Razorlight - Vice

detailed and layered, builds up nicely. The overall sound demands attention and stinks of quality. Razorlight are brimming with their own self confidence and this single will do a lot to back it up.

4 star

McFly - That Girl

Very catchy, will now doubt appeal to eight year olds everywhere. Certainly giving Busted a run for their money. Sure hit

4 star
New release

The Libertines - Cant's stand me now

This is brilliant, it's geting lots of airplay already, and so it should, cant wait for the album.

5 star
New release

Johnny Panic - Burn Your Youth

Yeah this is more like it, good solid modern rock song, whether it will be a hit, i don't know but it's far better than the last two. NOt bad lyrics either.

3 star
New release

Aberfeldy - Heliopolis by night

This isn't much better either, slightly more tuneful but very flast and un-interesting. not a hit ,me thinks

Four Stars
New release

Lambchop - Something's going on

Well whatever it is it's not this song, complete rubbish this track, it mumbloes it's way through 2mins 48 seconds, and for me thats 2 mins 47 seconds too long

Four Stars
Rasmus

The Rasmus - Guilty

second single from there debut album. This one has got a bit of an 80's rock feel to it, dare I say it, a little like Bon Jovi....
3 star
Franz Ferdinand - Michael

Franz Ferdinand - Michael

This is the fourth single from the album and although a live favourite and good alround stomping tune, it's a little on the repetitive side. But you can't knock a good song for not being brilliant.
3 star
Sia - Where I Belong

Sia - Where I Belong

Sia has got a great warm voice, add that to a sultry spanish accent, throw in a decent balad that builds to a good chorus, This is a cracking good song, should do welll

New release

The Vaults - The Friday night Monday morning blackout

This is a good hard rock EP, from the band they are calling the new Darkness, which to be honest they are not, but they are bloody good non the less

4 star
New release

Sophia - Holidays are nice

Yes they are, and so is this song as it reminds you of them....nice track!

4 star

4 star
New release

Marjorie Fair - Stare

Wow! these loit are brilliant, they have a really nice sound and the song is sweet to the ears. Yhe lead singer has a really soft and warming voice too. These lot are goignt o be the next big thing me thinks.

5 star
New release

Joy Zipper - Baby You Should Know

a nice tune and a nice sound but a bit flat at times, it just sounds the same all the way through.

3 star
sleeve

Zero 7 - Sommersault

Always a class track, whatever they put out, these lot put the rest to shame, and this song is no execption

5 star
New release

Longview - Stripped

This is a cover of the depeche mode track and although it's good, so too was the original, so it's hard to really make a judgement about the band from this track. It's good but wouldn't it be better to showcase their own material.

3 star
New release

Auf der Maur

rock, with not a lot of instant appeal. Overall the albumn is ok, but this single isn't particularly exciting

Two Stars

Plummet - Cherish the Day

Euphoric dance with poppy edge. Catchy track with the potential to do well

3 star
New release

the Charlatans - Up at the Lake

Hurray! the Charlatans are back and they are as good as ever, quality track, if this isn't a hit then i'll nkiss Peter Andre - now thats insania!!!

New release

Fountains of Wayne - Mexican Wine

Wow these lot are good, and this song is a dead cert summer hit !!! we produced and it's just a good summer uplifting song

4 Stars
New release

Ima Robot - Dynomite

This is a bit of a punk throwback song, the lyrics are reminisant of kids mursery rhymes. It's not bad but then again not the best thing i've heard.

1 Stars
New release

Iain Archer - Boy Boy Boy

This has a good intro, and Iain's voice sounds good, but after the intro the song doesn't particularly go anywhere, and you end up not taking in the lyrics, evcen though it's a bout a boy with his cardigan inside out - I think!

1 Stars
New release

Sleepy Jacksons - This Day, Come to This

This song has a badly drawn bouy feel to it, and this makes it not very exciting to listen too. Sorry guys.

1 Stars
New release

Two Lone - Swordfish - Faux

God this is boring - this track would send you to sleep even on the loudest dancefloor

1 Stars

Lene Marlin - Another Day

Finally a decent singer with a decent song, Lene has a nice summery voice and this song is ideal for long hot summer walks with a loved one,

Four Stars
New release

Lenny Kravitz - Where are we runnin'

mmm good guitar intro on this track, and the songs not bad either - good old rock and roll, not sure about Lenny's hair on the cover though - nice!

Four Stars
D12 D12 - My Band

‘My Band' is the first single from D12 in almost two years. It's been produced by Eminem himself and features all six members. Typical tongue in cheek side to the lyrics. Find out more at www.hyperlaunch.com/d12
3 star
New release Franz Ferdinand - Matinee

You can see why they are popular at the present. Their sound is made up of
so many comfortable and familiar sounds, but somehow manages to sound new,
original and fresh. This is uptempo dancey rock that is somehow full of
genuine credibility. Great music, great lyrics
Four Stars
Blue Blue - Breathe Easy

Yet another ballad from Blue. It's very average, but will appeal to fans and no doubt be a huge hit for the boy band.
Four Stars

Keisha Whites- Watcha Gonna Do

This is a an up-tempo R&B track from 17-year-old Londoner Keisha White. Nice funky guitar with an easy pop feel.

3 star

Darkness - Love is a feeling

Well these guys go from strength to strength, this is one of the best rock ballards i've heard for ages - sheer quality, if you haven't already go buy the album it's superb

Four Stars
New release

Kidsymphony

Fist impressions are they sound a little like Queen crossed with Electric 6. This is a rocking tune with full-on melody and in general there's not much wrong with it. It's a little on the tongue in cheek side of things, but that hasn't done the Darkness any harm has it.

Four Stars

Sugababes - Stuck in the middle

These sexy, brassy young ladies have hit the nail on the head with this single and album. excelent funky offering - worth buying.

Four Stars

Jamie Cullum - These are the days

Sorry, but I must be the only one who thinks this guy is over-rated, nothing special with this song or any other of his stuff that has come out recently.

Four Stars

Rubicon - Alex Braxe & Fred Falke

a very catchy and upbeat intrumental, will get played and sampled all over the place.

Four Stars
22-20s

22-20s - Why don't you do it for me

Hurray! SOMETHING GOOD, this is a good rock track that sounds like you would see it performed in a pub...quality!!

Four Stars
New release

Same old, same old rap track, nothing new here...

Two Stars
New release

The Rasmus - In the Shadows

This is a quality song from the Rasmus guys, good strong lyrics abd vocals...should be a hit.

This is a very smooth and sultry track, ideal to grove to and a dark bar. A very good track
Four Stars
New release Chicks on Speed - Wordy Rapping Hood
Yes it's back, this is a mega uptempo version of the Tom Tom club classic, featuring Tina Weymouth. This has every chance of going all the way. You'll either love it or it'll drive you insane.
3 star
Mark Joseph - Bringing Back Those Memories
This is a catchy track that shows a lot of potential from the new kid on the block. A little on the poppy side and lacking a bit of edge, but nevertheless promising stuff.
3 star
stranglers Stranglers - Big thing coming
This is a awesome track, but it doesn't sound anything like traditional Stranglers. So, it should be huge but it might not appeal to all older fans. The keyboards are the only instantly recognisable trademark
Four Stars
New release Hothouse Flowers - Your love goes on
This is their first offering on return from many years of solo project work. Featuring the Dublin Gospel Choir, this is a big sound, with smooth and easy listening appeal.

3 star
New release Bubba Sparxxx- Deliverance
Catchy hip-hop but with country flavas. Essentially a good song no matter how you pigeon hole it.
3 star
New release Oceansize- Catalyst
Manchester's Oceansize offer a catchy track from there prog-rock debut album. Another band with the potential for greatness as long as they don't let the experimentalism go too mad.
3 star
Keane Keane- Somewhere Only We Know
The is a classy pop/rock offerring from new boys Keane. It's got depth and intrigue with haunting melodies. This will appeal to lots of people especially those who like music with integrity.
Four Stars
New release Blink 182- I Miss You
Poppy offering from the last album, which should do well.
3 star
Obie Obie Trice- The Set Up
Aggressive, dull and dated lyrics spoil what is otherwise a good melodic single.
Two Stars
Snow Patrol Snow Patrol- Run
Moody, intense and rich. It's quality rock orientated material that higlights the the talents of this fine band. Gently building with a catchy chorus. This may be the single that unleashes Snow Patrol to a wider audience.
http://www.hyperlaunch.com/snowpatrol
Four Stars
New release Clea - Stuck in the Middle
Hey! this isn't half bad, a nice dramatic pop ballard that will I think get a lot of air play. Much better than their last effort.
Four Stars
New release Mr.ON vs Jungle brothers - Breathe don't stop
This is agood mix of a Mocheal Jackson backing track (topical at the minute) and some great rap lyrics. A sure fire hit !!!!
Four Stars

5 star
New release Clarkesville - Spinning
What else can we say - but brilliant!!
5 star
Texas Texas - I'll See It Through
From the the album that has re-invented Texas, comes a more traditional track offeing. Sharleen Spiteri delivers a splendid ballad that will be competing for a top place in the Christmas chart.
3 star
Texas Texas - I'll See It Through
From the the album that has re-invented Texas, comes a more traditional track offeing. Sharleen Spiteri delivers a splendid ballad that will be competing for a top place in the Christmas chart.
3 star
Sugababes - Too lost in you.
Well what can I say, these 3 ladies just get better and better. This is taken from the recently released movie 'Love Actually'. The song is superbly written and performed. Brilliant!!! Watch the video
5 star
Madness Madness- Vol 1 Singles Box
It's the 'heavy heavy monster' sound all over again and it sounds brilliant! Loads of classics in this collection from 'The Prince' right through to 'Cardiac Arrest' and to round it off the packaging is superb too.
5 star
Blue- feat. Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone - Signed Sealed. Delivered.
Catchy but totally over produced. With Blue's following it's got to be a Christmas contender, but somewhat predictable.
3 star
Joe Strummer Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros- Redemption Song
Gentle but catchy offering from the late Mr. Strummer. Written by Bob Marley , this version offers an acoustic, folk slant, and has certainly got potential to be a Christmas hit.
5 star
Blink 182 The Darkness - Christmas Time, Don't Let the Bells End
Oi Oi missus, bells end nudge nudge, well no nudging at all actually, this is not a saucy crimbo track as the title leads you to believe. this is a good tradional queen/slade/wizzard Christmas track. Should almost make the NO.1 Christmas slot but we think will get pipped at the post by the stunningly brilliant 'Mad World'
Four Stars
Atomic Kitten Atomic Kitten - Ladies Night
The kitten's singles are coming fast and furious. This one's a cover of the Kool and the Gang classic Ladies Night. It's a good uptempo version, very poppy but it's not going to be top of the charts this Christmas!
3 star
Blink 182 Blink182 - Feeling this
"Feeling this" is the first single from Blink 182's new album.t's very upbeast and puncgy throughout with the usual catchy chorus. Loads of silly lyrics but all good fun.
3 star
New release Lamb - Wonder
Slow, soft and quirky. Nice vocals from Lou Robinson. If you like trip-hop it could be your thing.
3 star
Jet - Rollover DJ
Good stonking rock - brilliant
5 star
sleeve Martin L Gore - Loverman
The Depeche Mode man is back with another single and it's really rather good, it's dark, deep and a bit dirty - marvelous
3 star
New release The All American rejects - The Last Song
Hope this isn't the last song as I really like this song, sounds a bit like some of the other American teen rock bands but a good song non the less.
Four Stars
New release Mary J Blige featuring Eve - Not Today
No not today, just sounds like all the rest.
3 star
New release No Doubt - It's My Life
This is one of my fave 80's tunes, so to cover it and impress me e it will have to be good - it just scrapes in. Could do with a remix with a lot more guitar and bass.
3 star
New release Mis-Teeq - Style
This features a Pet Shop Boys sample which at first leads you to believe it's a cover, but it's not this is yet another quality Mis-teeq track, slightly softer but still as funky.
Four Stars
Superstars The Loose Cannons - superstars
I can't decide if this is catchy or irritating, all I know is that the chorus embeds itself into your mind for about 3 hours each time you hear the track. Light rapping, funky beats fun chorus, sure hit
3 star
cornerstones The Cornerstones - Smack me in the face
This band have got something about them. The single is fairly mellow, catchy, thoughtful, well delivered and a bit of a grower. Musically it's accomplished and it's an allround fine tune. If you like Travis then this single would appeal to you although they've got a slightly more 60's feel.
5 star
Atomic Kitten Atomic Kitten - If you come to me
The kittens can do no wrong. Great Harmonies. It sounds a bit familiar and instantly catchy
Four Stars
Kym Marsh Kym Marsh - Sentimental
It's good, but sounds like a hundred other country/folk/pop female vocalists. I don't know if this matters anyore. nil for originality, but quite a good song all the same. The dance remix is even better...but sounds like a hundred other .....
3 star
Daniel Beddingfield Daniel Bedingfield - Friday
It's catchy, which is a good start. It's also not soppy, so even better. I think this single might endear DB to some new fans. It's quite uptemp and good fun.
3 star
mark owen Mark Owen - alone without you
A good strong second single from Mark. Four minute warning was brilliant and this track won't do his career any harm either.
Four Stars
Alkaline Trio erasure - Oh Lamour
This is a good acoustic re-mix for this song, gives it new feel. Would like to hear the boys release Crackers International remixed and released for crimbo
Four Stars
Alkaline Trio Dave Gahan - Bottle Living
Classic Gahan this track, it's rocky, hard and a bit Depeche Mode like. Don't think it will chart high but fans won't be disapointed.
3 star
Alkaline Trio Goldfrapp - Twist
Mean and moody Goldfrapp this time, a good song with good dark dance beats. A dance floor filler and a top 10 hit if ever I saw one.
Four Stars
Alkaline Trio Alkaline Trio - All on Black
Fast and furious rock with the usual build up to Mosh pit chorus. Simplistic but catchy all the same
3 star
New release Kellis - Milkshake
Lots of rhythm and syncopated beats, punctuated with Indian finger cymbals, this song gets into you head and you'll either love or hate it in the same way that you either loved or hated Flying Lizards version of 'Money'
Four Stars
New release The Kills - Pull A U
Rock 'n' roll intro to this one, real Jimi hendrix style. This male \ female duo deliver a Bluesy \ rock treat from the same sort of genre as Whte Stripes, but perhaps a little moodier. nice.
Four Stars
Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams my L.A.ex
Loads of airply before its release will ensure that this is a big hit for ex S-Club star, Rachel. And to be fair it's a good song too, although I find the chorus a bit corny. .
Four Stars
Paul Van Dyk - Time of our lives
smooth and grand with excellent backbeats, should do well as it's very poppy, although the chorus goes on a bit..
3 star
New release A Perfect Circle - Weak and Powerless
Great bass, drums and guitar combined with haunting vocals and powerful chorus make this a great tune.
3 star
sleve

Ilya - Soleil Soleil
This is a very sexy and smooth track ideal to smooch on the dance floor to.

3 star
Limp bizkit Limp Bizkit - Eat you alive
The opening chords sound like every metal song you've ever heard, but it quickly turns into a well developed single with it's own personality and intrinsic hooks. Chorus is pure angst, but it has mellow bits too, so ideal single material
3 star
Biffy Clyro Biffy Clyro - Eradicate the Doubt
Funky light intro, which turns into a bit of a mosh pit rant and then back again. There obviously musically talented, but it's wasted on this track. Eradicate the vocalist would be a better option.
Two Stars
New release Turin Brakes - 5 Miles (These are the days)
Very very catchy. well crafted and superbly rich. Pop as it should be.
Four Stars
special needs Placebo - Special Needs
Superb classic Placebo. Highly under-rated band, but I guess you either love or hate them.
Four Stars
New release Aslan - Crazy World
Superb single from one of Irelands best rock bands. Excellent vocals that will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.. Aslan should have been huge - they are in Ireland - and hopefully the re-relase of earlier material may get them some well deserved wider coverage. See them live if you can.
Four Stars
New release Small Victories - 'Go back to bed America'
Fantastic single from the Cardiff based duo. Another nugget of gold in the brassy music industry, they deserve to be big and will be.
Four Stars
New release Skin - 'Faithfullness'
Can this lot sing any higher, the pitch of the lead vocals is almost painfully high. not a bad song though.
3 star
Mars Volta Mars Volta - Inertiatic Esp
Rock track edging towards Radiohead in places. A bit of a racket, but will probably grow, although it sounds more like album than single material.
3 star
New release Strokes - 12:51
A little bit of a dissapointing whingy effort from the Strokes. It's good but not classic... apart from the ending which is abruptly sudden. I hope the rest of the material on their forthcoming album is more energized.
3 star
Sean Paul Sean Paul - Like Glue
Track 2 - the instrumental is great, the vocals if anything detract from fine beats and melody. With such a good canvass, Sean Paul has done little to excite.
Four Stars

Mountaineers - Ripen
These are good, sound a bit Starsaior-ish, good lyrics and a good mix of sounds, if we get an lbum to review they will go high in the next BIG thing section of reviewed4u. the extra tracks on this single are goo too.

5 star

Joe Strummer - Coma Girl
this has a style of lyrics not to disimilar to Elvis Costello. It tels a story which you don't get a lot of these days. This is in the classic style of Joe, and realy quite good.

Four Stars
Trapt - Headstrong
Already doing great things in the states, this band are all set to break into the UK market with this explosive single. Loads of punchy riffs and hi- energy lyrics, great rock with enough appeal to keep the sk8ers happy
http://www.hyperlaunch.com/trapt
Four Stars
New release Melanie C -Yeh Yeh Yeh
With so many good singles around at the moment I was starting to worry that this page was looking a bit creepy, so thankfully, the Melanie C single came a long to re-address the balance. Sorry Mel, on another day you may have got the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately this is the most un-original song that I've heard all year. Frankly it's far worse than anything the cheeky girls have done and and it's a damm cheek expecting anything other than compilation filler for this effort..
Four Stars
Snow Patrol - Spitting Games
Darlings of the Scottish music scene, Snow Patrol, are hoping for some wider attention with this poppy track. Nice melodies and a strong chorus - they could be on to a winner with this one
Four Stars
Black Eyed Peas - Where is the Love
Best chorus I've heard for a while and the verses aren't too bad either. What can I say, If you're going to have hip-hop and r & b in the same track then this is how to do it. The softer meoldies gives their style of hip hop a new angle and and just what it need. Compare this with the tired, dull and boring track 2 "Sumthing for that Ass" - I know which I prefer.
Four Stars
sleeve The Free Association - Sugarman
This is a brilliant song, dark thumping base line with superb lyrics and vocals. must be a hit.
5 star

Oceansize - Remember Where You Are
unusual sound this, it's bit of a cross between Ocean Colour Scene and American punk. It's a very refreshing southat grows on you. Oceansize have a lot of potential.

3 star
sleeve Starsailor - Silence is Easy
This ban ooze pure class and this song is no exception. THis is classic Starsailor but with add umph!!! Brilliant

New release After Suburbia - The Dare EP
Again not bad. Good old modern day rock. Well written, well produced but we've heard this sound before. Too much some would say. But a good effort.
3 star
New release Tim Burgess - Believe in the Spirit
Here's a different sound, this is bright, catchy and upliting. If it gets the airplay it could be huge. Love the sax on the track
5 star
Speedway - Save Yourself \ Genie in a Bottle
New band from Scotland, Speedway offer more than a retro Pretenders sound, with their debut double A side. Save yourself is a catchy summery track whilst the cover of Genie in a bottle is stomping
Four Stars
New release Audio Bullys - Way Too Long
The best part of this track is that it's got a Ska feel in places, especially the intro which could be the Specials..remeber them.
Four Stars
New release White Stripes - I just don't know what to do with myself
Great cover, bringing back back memories of the film Buster... I'm not sure if that's what they intended though!
Four Stars
3hird light 3hird Light - Movin' On EP
A cross between the ELO and the Thrills with some obvious Beatles influences. With this combination you're halfway to a decent sound and indeed that's what they've got. Whether it's got enough edge or originality to stand out from the crowd is another matter.
3 star
Laibach - Tanz Mit Laibach
Call me ignorant, but I've no idea what this is all about, however, that doesn't mean it's no go good. It's got heavy electronic stmoping beats, growling resonant vocals with more than likely goth appeal. Nice atmospheric vampirish backing vocals, along with classical elements make this all a bit dramatic.
Four Stars
New release DMX - Where the Hood at
Totally dated angst ridden beastie boy type rap, full of pretentious lyrics.
Four Stars
Spiritualized Spiritualized - She Kissed Me
This is what we want after the Cheeky Girls overload, good solid well peformed rock music - brilliant
Four Stars
The Thrills - Santa Cruz (you're not that far)
Brilliant poppy single from a great band
Four Stars
New release Chemical Brothers feat. The Flaming Lips - The Golden Path
A most refreshing track with excellent musical detail, embellished with rich deep vocals and entertaining lyrics. One of the best singles around at the moment
5 star
New release Lisa Scott Lee - Too Far Gone
This is a very clever poppy track, that'll have you singing along in no time at all. Only problem is that it's very shallow and not very original. It'll make great filler for many a compilation to come.
Two Stars

David Sneddon - Best of Order
This is David sounding like a young Robbie. A good strong song both musically and lyrically. Should do well in the charts

Four Stars

Dave Gahan - I Need You
Classic deep, dark and moody Gahan. A pleasure to listen to.

3 star
Psychid - Digging For Victory
We liked the album so as you can guess we like this single. Well produced this song is dark and meaty and has a touch of the Depeche about it. Fabulous.
3 star

Libertines - Don't Look Back into the Sun
Tra La La, this is a jolly little song, very catchy and the lyrics are quite good to. One to watch

3 star
New release

Cheeky Girls - Hooray Horray (it's a cheeky holiday)
Sorry i'm unable to review this single as my cd player has good musical taste and refused to play it.

One Stars
Tindersticks (with Ihasa De Sela) - Sometimes it hurts
I will probably get slated for saying this, but this single sounds a bit like Nick Cave and Kylie, but not as weird. I don't think anyone dies or anything. Top tune!
3 star
Crackout - Out of our minds
Sounding a bit like a cross between the Stranglers and the Cure, this tune grabs you by the ear lobes and demands attention. Catchy on first play...could do well.
Four Stars
New release Robbie Williams - Something Beautiful
Non stop Robbie classics, can't find fault with this or any of his stuff, dead cert number 1 this, and quite rightly so.
5 star
Harry - Follow Me
Good solid stuff this, with a great hook and superbly perfored. Ideal bedroom stomping music
3 star
Kym Marsh - Come On Over
This is catchy, but I'm not sure what if anything gives it an edge over material from others such as Mel C and Natalie Imbruglia, not to mention the million and one other artists that are as good but do not get the chart success. Sorry, good but nothing special
Four Stars
New release Kraftwerk - Tour de France 2003
Not heard much from these guys recently and this is certainly not like famous earlier singles such as 'model', but it's well put together and creative. If dance music is dying a death at the moment with too mny euphoric anthems, then this is the sort of rich deep electronic beats that will still give it some credibility.
Four Stars
Haven - Tell Me
Prelude to their forthcoming album, this single is classy rock with more than enough hooks to appeal to a wide audience.
3 star
New release Motion City Soundtrack - My Favorite Accident
Thankfully these lot aren't an accident waiting to happen as this is a good song with a band that has a good distinctive sound. Would like to hear the album
Four Stars
New release Simple Plan - Adicted
Another band and a nother single from the American Soft Punk scene.
It's a good song which will get a lot of air play but it's not different enough to stand out
3 star
New release Paul Van Dyk - Nothing But You
Powerful and uplifting dance track. It's got that 'I've heard this before' feel to it and so will be in everyone's comfort zone. The vocals are mellow and smooth and beats hypnotic
. A sure hit.
Four Stars
KV5 KV5 - Flying Right
Hot summer track with funky vocals and just enough rythm to get your gran up on the dance floor.
3 star
New release

Royksopp - Sparks
There's no sparks to this song, they follow the brilliant Poor Leno with this!

Four Stars
New release

Sinead Quinn - What You Need Is...
What you need is a better song, this no where near as good as the first single, it's very sickly and Sineads giggling all over it is just annoying. Come on girl you can do better

Four Stars
The Thrills - Big Sur
A lot of time for this band. This one is a poppy ballad with loads of feeling, catchy hooks and just a great feel good tune.
Four Stars
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Pin
In your face single from a much hyped band. If you like bands such as the Strokes, combined with a charismatic female vocalist - along the lines of early Debbie Harry - then put this on your shopping list
.
3 star
Counting Crows - If I could give all my love
Catchy uptempo tune with a distinctive summery feel, that wouldn't be out of place on a Sterophonics album.
Four Stars
New release Alkaline Trio - We've Had Enough
Mosh pit stuff from the guys from Chicago. There's so much of this around at the moment, but this one stands out just enough to be noticed.

John Cale - 5 Tracks
Is it an album or a single, you decide. This is very addictive music from one of music's long standing and admired artists. Each song is well crafted and a pleasure to listen to. Shame it's not an album....or is it?

Four Stars
New release Placebo - This Picture
Brilliant. Pure energy captured and delivered with passion. Uptempo track with hints of the 90's and REM, but even so, still great.
Four Stars
New release Saian Supa Crew - Give Praise
Reggae \ hip- hop \ rap, but with a delicate and smooth flavour. Lots of melody and great vocals, this accessible and probablywithin most people's comfort zone.
3 star
New release Gang Starr - Nice Girl Wrong Place \ Rite Where U Stand
Hip hop of the most average kind. Boring, repetitive and immature.
Four Stars
New release The Burn - Big Blue Sky
Catchy pop rock track from the Burn, sliding abit towards Crowded House on this one though!
Four Stars
Ed Harcourt Ed Harcourt - Watching the sun come up
Our Ed sometimes delivers a mixed bag, but on this occasion he's got the balance superbly right producing a fine uptempo catchy song. Deserves to do better.

Grandaddy - Now it's on
First new material for nearly 2 years from Californians Grandaddy. Smooth and deeply layered pop / rock, slightly beatles influenced, but above all a top quality single. The bonus tracks are great too.
Four Stars
Cheeky girls Cheeky Girls - Take your shoes off
Give up now. At least the last single had an irritating catchy bit, but this one's not even catchy. There getting quite a bit of coverage so it might just hit the charts but it's fairly dire
Two Stars
New release Serafin - Things fall apart
Now that's what I call rock music. This London based four piece look set to be huge. Great melodies, strong vocals, plenty of raw energy.
Four Stars
Shed Seven- Why can't I be you
Shed Seven are back with the release of their new single on 12th May. It's funkier than the old stuff but still has that 90's inide feel. I hope it's a bit of a grower because on first play it's not particularly strong.
Two Stars
Androids - Do it with Madonna
This is a bit of a catchy novelty track that runs the risk of sounding a bit corny, however, the other tracks on the single demonstrate that the Androids are not just one hit wonders and actually have an original and distinct sound. Already getting airplay...should be a hit!

Asian Dub FOundation Asian Dub Foundation feat. Sinead O'Connor - 1000 Mirrors
This is the second track to be taken from 'Enemy of the Enemy' album that was released in February 2003 and features guest vocals by Sinead O'Connor. The song is about one of the last great taboos, domestic violence, especially in the Asian community. Despite a thorny issue, it's quite an comfortable poppy track with 80's familiarity, yet still feeling quite contemporary.
Four Stars
Fallacy feat. Tubbt T - Big n Bashy
24 year old Brixton born Daniel Fahey aka Fallacy is one of the most distinctive voices to have come from the UK urban scene, blending street-level slang and his impassioned vocals with an assertive, no-nonsense attitude. Fairly standard hip / hop / rap, but with a distinctive ancatchy chorus

Short Break Operator - Some Winter Song
Short Break Operator aka Frail Kid aka James Chapman, a one-piece outfit hailing from a Northern Shire in middle England. Experimental, delicate and hypnotic.
3 star
Minor Planet Minor Planet - Izu Pacific
3 very catchy tracks offering something of a soulful pop style that quite clearly also has 80's influences. find out more on their website www.minorplanet.org.uk
Four Stars
New release Lisa Mafia - All Over
Fairly routine hip-hop / garage, from SoSolid member, Lisa.
3 star
The Vines - Homesick
This is a very smooth track from the Vines, Should get the airplay and should get a top 10 chart placing. The band seem to be going from strength to strength.
Four Stars
New release Craig Favid feat. Sting - Rise & fall
This is probably the best song on his recent album and should do better than the previous two releases. Sting's vocals add real quality to this track, but I'm not sure whose career is likely to benefit most from this duet.
Four Stars
New release Lisa Scott-Lee - Lately
Former steps superstar, Lisa, gets on the solo bandwagon with this poppy track, which is good but nothing special..
3 star
New release Skin - Trashed
Sounding like the recent releases from McAlmont & Buttler, this is a good soulful track ideal for summer listening.
3 star
New release Hell is For Heroes - Retreat
This has a tinge of a feeling of 80's rock to it with a bit of a Cure guitar thrown in for good measure. This is a very well constructed song both musically and lyrically. It's worth following this band as they are destined for big things.
3 star
New release Nada Surf - Inside Love
Another pure class track from these guys, they should by now be regular visitors to the top 10, so come on you lot out there go buy this single.
Four Stars
New release Stylophonic - Soul Reply
A great soulful summer dance tune that will be knocking around the clubs for quite a while
3 star
Simian - La Breeze
They have dropped the bambi branding and have released a bloody good song that will be the making of them. This song is brilliant!!!
5 star
Calexico - Quattro
A very nice well produced track with a good use of instruments which gives the song a latin feel, a good song for sultry nights.
3 star
New release ShyFX & TPower - Feelin' U
An unusual offering from these pair, the song as a latin american/salsa feel but is rather catchy
3 star
New release Daniel Bedingfield - I Can't Read You
This is a bit more guitar driven than previous stuff , but still reminds me of Jason Donovan. It's a great, catchy summer pop song, but lacks any real depth, originality or staying power.
3 star

David Sneddon - Don't Let Go
This song doesn't come close to his 1st number 1 hit. Don't Let Go is repetitive, flat and uninspiring. David should be able to write better songs than this with all the help he had in the Fame Academy.
