Firefly is set 5 centuries in the future based on the crew of the spaceship serenity. Often described as a western in space,in a way it is as they face the wild frontiers with gunslinger attitude.
It's from the same formula as shows such as Buffy and Angel, so lots of good looking, likeable, witty characters. This along with a good idea for the show and some tight dialogue makes for an enjoyable set of episodes.
It sounds a bit of a trashy idea cashing in on other teen show successes, but there is some quality to the writing here and the result is that there is still a big fan base out there.
Firefly DVD is presented in anamorphic 1.78:1 with Dolby Surround Sound. There are commentaries on six episodes by various writers, directors, designers and cast members along with features on ideas for the show and original design concepts. A few other bits and pieces including deleted scenes, gags, and Joss Whedon singing the show's theme tune.
