Thirty years ago the first of the infamous block parties were taking place in the Bronx, New York. Deejayed by Kool Herc, the Father of hip-hop, these parties caused a cultural revolution and were partly responsible for bringing rap and hip-hop to the masses. There have been many important hip-hop players over the past 30 years. Their music, clothes, lifestyle, individuality and attitude have helped to create a huge following from all backgrounds. These old school mc's are documented here explaining their invaluable contribution to hip-hop.
Presented by the principal lyricist of rap group Public Enemy - Chuck D, this programme documents the music, the videos, and interviews the people that made the rap and hip-hop scene unique.
